South Norfolk MP Richard Bacon has been re-elected to the influential Commons Public Accounts Committee by his fellow Members of Parliament.
Mr Bacon said: “I am delighted to have been re-elected by my colleagues to serve on the Public Accounts Committee for this Parliament.
“My main focus in this Parliament is to encourage government to get better at learning from its mistakes. I am looking forward to getting started and there is much to do, notably in keeping up the pressure on BT for the delivery of the rural broadband programme to ensure that we achieve value for money for the taxpayers' contribution”.
In the last Parliament, the Public Accounts Committee examined the rural broadband programme among a wide variety of other subjects. These ranged from flood defences, foundation hospitals and child care to rail infrastructure and the tax affairs of multinational companies such as including Google, Amazon and Starbucks.
